  • Hi Naali,
Please consider unlocking the majority of pages in the Special:Log/protect list, particularly templates.
The following Community Central pages provide a great explanation as to why I would make this request:

  • More or less.

...how are you doing? Been a while... I must say I'm impressed about what has happened here - and still is; also that I'm sorry for leaving you alone. Let me talk about that a bit.

The recent few months were ... different. Put shortly, I failed at the university, found a good friend to show me another path in my life, and now I'm a bit scared about my future. There are possibilities to keep studying but I'm not too sure about that anymore.. it seems like this won't work out. To me. I also improved my physical appearance thanks to my - meanwhile - boyfriend. Hi I'm gay. No joke.

I just felt like giving up this wiki a bit to have more time for myself. One day I thought about telling you I wouldn't be working a lot here, but I was absent so long I forgot about it.

Enough of that. If you really want to know more or talk/chat about JC, contact me on Skype @ "naali314". You can even call me if you want, but be aware my english - spoken - is not really good.

Yes, I've changed. About 9 months ago, like no one of the sentences above would come from my fingers typing this text right now.

I also see there's someone going on a rampage here. Wow, I'm impressed. Hey Emily, do you know how I came to bureaucrat rights? This guy could have done the same thing as I did several months ago I think. Nice job merging the wikis by the way.

Right now I'm waiting for some companies to answer to my applications - while playing Warframe and such stuff, but this sometimes becomes boring, like today.

Oh yeah. The name's Patrick. Nice to know you guys.

    • Oh wow, it's great to hear from you again Naali! You probably don't know me under this moniker but it's AllanScotti off the GameFAQs boards.

Wow, you've had a lot going on, but I'm glad you're back. I'm not really much good at making elongated speeches, so I'm just going to say that it's good to hear you're doing well, and I hope your applications will get back to you soon. :3

  • Hey Naali, do you have Skype and/or Facebook? I'm going to be around a lot here so would be cool to speak to you and chat JC. Also, I've done a lot of edits recently, added some new pages with others planned. I also asked about becoming an admin and other things.

    Good spinning,

    Inity/XFER

    • You pretty much convinced me, but I have just few more questions while I want to survey the community:

Chimera-gui wrote: And you can also request to change the merged wiki's URL to "jadecocoon" rather than "thejadecocoonproject" if you so wish.

I've never experienced a wiki merge, as you can imagine. Do you know how this works? I mean, is it possible to "absorb" the JC2 wiki and put everything (even this forum for example) on the "jadecocoon" URL? It would be great if we could keep our forum threads and everything and just change the URL.

Plus, this ensures that traffic to [[w:c:jadecocoon]] comes here instead.

Do you know how this works? No details, just some basics. I'm just curious about that.

        Loading editor
    • I've never had to do it myself but I do know that that the Ape Escape wiki was originally several wikis that were merged together under the URL "sarugetchu".

When requesting the merge, you should include links to the wikis being merged meaning this one, jadecocoon, and jadecoon2 as well as a request for the URL to be changed to "jadecocoon".

Once everything's merged, you should go through pages like Kikinak and Levant and format them how you want them to be which I'll be assisting in.

Naali wrote: Do you know how this works? No details, just some basics. I'm just curious about that.

Any URLs after the merge will redirect to the merged wiki so long as they're kept by the merged wiki.

  • Do you agree with me ? : Every minion has a non-combat pose, especially the hambus, cauz when out of battles, they are "standing up".

    • Ok, you've got me there. ^-^

Snapping the minions in the story forests is fairly easy, so I'll hunt those soon. Not with my camera though, because that way the pictures will be unnecessarily bad. Also, where to add these? Most certainly they fit in the Appearance section.

        Loading editor
    • Surely appearance. Another example of a non combat pose is the Geenwee & Co minions.

I had to use my camera for this, cauz I can't do screenshots in my TV. =/

(btw, can we consider the Growth Lv.3 as the basic Growth Level ? I mean, because the Lv.1 is too small and the final, Lv.5, is too big and the Lv.3 is in the middle, so, we should take the middle one because it's between those two levels, I hope you get it ^^)

  • I just saw your latest edits and I wondered about the Palooja page. There you wrote about the Jitamble family being immune to critical, but I did often hit them in the past years with the Icicle after many attempts. They dodge like the first 15 to 20 hits, but around after that, they maybe get hit by Icicle.

The spider / crab family, however, never got hit by me with this. Any suggestions?

      Loading editor
    • After many attempts? That's fine then. I actually defined "immune" for myself as "could still be hit/affected by whatever it is with a veeery low probability", as I wasn't sure whether or not the actual probability is exactly zero. And it seems as if it is like this. The probability should be so low that I'd say you had bad luck with the spiders.

Maybe we can find a better expression for the zero-DM now.

  • Sorry to pester you, but I discovered a very creepy thing that happened to me upon crashing the game!

So I was doing the merge viewer glitch where it gives off a completely different monster and posture most of the time... When I tried to perform the glitch with a Jirahl, I viewed the first slot, and the game crashed and this low tone started playing that really creeped me the hell out! It keeps playing until you reset whatever system you're playing on (PS1, PS2, or PS3 (or maybe in the future, PS4)). Just wanted you to know! It's really creepy! If you want to hear it, purposefully crash the game by doing that glitch, and listen to it through either headphones or an amplifier...

      Loading editor
    • Sorry to read that. I'll try that sometime.

About that glitch: it might read data at the slots where there is actually no minion. There mostly should be rubbish - but the game might think you're going to preview the merge with that broken data which is in these slots. Now attempting to view minions with boss minion merge slots / postures crashes the game. Might have been the cause there.

Also, the PS4 won't become downward compatible afaik. Quite a shame imo.

        Loading editor
    • True, while it won't be compatible, they are planning the PlayStation Now service; allows cloud streaming of PS1, PS2, and PS3 games, though to be quite honest, if they did that, they would make it worse than the PS3 does already... :/

But I still can't explain why that creepy crash tone played... I did have at least 11 other monsters in my storage, so I think maybe I inadvertandly came upon a boss posture/minion merging slot? Like I said before, it's all just fruitless guessing...

        Loading editor
    • Uh... wait. You press circle for that glitch, right? I just did a small experiment to see what it actually does.

So, the circle button in that menu will attempt to load the minion in that peticular slot. Now imagine you had spun a minion in that certain slot just before. If you circle in that slot now, it will load its model. Rebirth? Nope. It means that its data remained in this slot's memory. However, the one variable that determines whether or not there "is something" was changed to "there's nothing".

Now in my opinion the game shuffles some weird stuff into unused slots. If you attempt to view that minion (what you shouldn't be able to actually, because there "is nothing") it will load this weird stuff.

I don't know whether it's random - maybe you can change what's in there. I only had two possible outcomes in my experiment, each time it changed when I left and talked to Mahbu again.

  • Hey Naali.

I wanted to theorize something and see if it might pique your interest.

I've been thinking for a little while and I've thought, "Huh... some monsters in this game are pretty hard to capture, and some aren't as hard to capture...", but I put this off for a little while until five minutes ago when I was poking around at monster stats (specifically Terash, Patash, Arvalzak, Ticker, and Jirahl). This got me to thinking about a couple of possible ideas for identifying the mysterious 6th Stat that you've designated. So I have a couple of ideas:

    1) What if the 6th Stat is the Catch Rate?

    2) What if the 6th Stat is a Catch Resistance Rate?

I know I might sound like a broken record when I'm theorizing these, but hear me out.

Looking through all the goat-monsters, I can see that there's a minor fluctuation in their 6th Stat, with Fedelco's being the lowest, and Arvalzak's being the highest, while Kamra, Jirahl, and Spiral are all in the middle. Now in my past experiences, even with a high catch level, Fedelco has always been pretty hard to catch for me, as well as Arvalzak, but Arvalzak was just slightly easier than Fedelco. Maybe Fedelco has a lower catch rate than all the other monsters, and some of the others have been easier to catch... The weird thing is, the unobtainables and bosses all have high 6th Stats, especially Jeechwo and the Chosen One (with the highest at 190), and the boss minions (Delfanel, Tuturis and Seterian all having zero). Another weird thing is that some of the merge-only minions have relatively mediocre 6th Stats; Tweengo has 100, while Sherrick has 110, and even Asha has 100 as her 6th Stat! That's my theory on a catch rate. For an equation, I think it would follow similarly to Nintendo's Pokemon franchise, where it depends on how much HP you have left, but of course without Poke Ball modifiers. Something like:

(CatchLevel*MonsterTotalHP/MonsterCurrentHP/100) So for example if my CatchLevel was 24, the monster's TotalHP was 500, and it's CurrentHP was 120, it would equal 6,000. Divide that by 100, and you would get a 60% chance of capture. It's all just a theory though...

And my second thing; the Catch Resistance Rate. This might sound like a really strange thing, but hear me out.

Looking at Air Vatolka, Jeechwo, the Chosen One (if he could be captured), Skapara, the first 15 monsters listed in the complete monster list, and various other monsters just to name a few, you can see they have a relatively high base 6th Stat with the highest obtainable base 6th stat belonging to Skapara, with an astounding 170. If this were to be the Catch Resistance Rate, this would make sense for some of those monsters, including Skapara and Terhambu, which have high base 6th Stats, and are pretty annoying to catch, even with the appropriate catch level! Tell me this, in your first play-through of the game, how many of those tiny bastard -hambus and -paras did you manage to catch? They are extremely annoying! However, on the other hand, some of these would have super-low catch resistance rates, like the goat-monsters, the -odons, -moajs, and other lines just to name a few. They would be so easy to catch, it's not even funny! What about the unobs and boss minions, you could catch the boss minions at full health if you were at Level 1 if you wanted, because their catch resistance rate would be ZERO.

I know you've seen me rant a little bit, and you might think this is stupid, but it's something to think about... :)

      Loading editor
    • So you're basically saying that the lower the stat, the lower the catch rate - but on the other hand that a high one also lowers the rate, based on examples? So 100 would be a neat high catch rate? I mean, it can't be both in the end. Well I don't know. Actually I can't say that I really felt many differences between any two minion species. However my last captures were a long time ago.

Do you know about the current theory? I think it's the critical strike chance. Give that a shot - try some hambu's and some goaties. Anyways did you ever see f. e. Seterian / Tuturis / Delfanel crit? Ok they don't basic attack often except maybe Delfanel, but they just don't crit.

      /a bit offtopic
Also did you ever try and sum GR together? I mean of obtainable minions. It's always around 600. Hambu's and such are pretty bad regarding their non-crit stats, however the crit stat is huge. Noticed that when I wanted to add some sums to the minion tables...

        Loading editor
    • I'm saying if the 6th stat was the catch rate, then a higher number would mean a higher catch rate, and a lower number would mean a lower catch rate (and with some status modifiers too). I think what I said about the Catch Resistance rate is all a bunch of nonsense now that I think about it... :(

You know... now that you mention it, whenever I face it, Jeechwo always seems to land a critical hit at least every 2-4 hits, whether it uses Fang - Break Legs or it's normal attack... I'll look into it and battle a couple of Jeechwo to see if it really is... Actually, I have had Tuturis land a critical hit on me a couple of times during my 80 bazillion playthroughs of the game, and Seterian actually critically hit me once during one of my playthroughs, though strangely enough, Delfanel never critically hit me... weird...

Now that you mention adding up GRs, it does seem rather odd... I looked at Skapara all skeptical of your statement, but I saw that you were not wrong... Skapara is still 10 points off from being at 600, and looking at Teralco I saw that it was 30 points higher in the sum of all of the GRs... I don't know man, it's all just fruitless guessing right now...

        Loading editor
    • Well, I don't mind if zero as a (f.e. crit/poison/stone/sleep/death) rate in the game means 1/4'228'250'625 chance or so. True, that can be that way, but thing is, it's just significantly low. ^^

I once did some examples with different 6th stats and checked the crit rate at about 120 hits or so... it really showed. Can't find that full discussion anymore though I think... only this I wrote on GameFAQs, I'll quote myself:

      6th stat GR: 200 -> 26/120 crits -> 21,6% crit chance
      6th stat GR: 0 -> 0/120 crits

      /offtopic
Someone on this page talks about our wikia :) just search for 6th stat, it's only once on the page.
