The original forests have been remade in a more modern program. Its looks as close to the original as it can be without infringing on copyright.
So, after setting up on IRC channel on my old server, the server ended up closing at the end of 2016 :( So, I've made a new channel and wanted to let you all know:
Edit: IRC channel closed, check the Discord link Flossome posted below!
Hello,
Happy New Year to all of you from this wiki. Hope you had a fun Christmas & New Year's Eve. I'm still kinda busy with studying, but wanna do some little things in the wiki. Will get to it in some time.
Hello!
Around a year ago I was active in this wiki when I was trying to get 100% in Jade Cocoon and seeing everything the game has to offer. I only helped out with very little things but it was my first time participating in a wiki and it was fun. Unfortunately I was busy with other stuff after that and I still don't have the 100%.
But I really like this game and I wanted to help out in the wiki again. So first I wanted to ask if some people are still active here from time to time. And if any new big discoveries happened in the last year, e.g. finding out the exact drop rates for every item in the game. Are there any specific parts of the wiki where one can help out?
I also started playing the japanese version of the game. Want to see the differences beween the versions & different voice acting. And at some point play Jade Cocoon 2 if it's good.
This thread is a base for discussing any new themes, backgrounds, wordmarks and the general look of the wiki where we can discuss any recent posts like the new recent theme (yellow), new background and new wordmark.
This thread can also be re-visited as and when new themes and such are made, which I thought could be every 6 months or so.
In addition, if you think there's anything that could be improved in regards to formatting, the look (like on the home page and headers, etc.) then this can also be discussed.
I look forward to hearing what you all think. In addition, look at the polls to tell us your general opinion and then post your specific thoughts here.
Keep spinning,
CocoonMasterInity
Right everybody, things have been really picking up again which is great to see so I thought that I'd add an ongoing discussion here so we can all talk about any changes we might like to see, things we need to add or perhaps to format things differently.
Not only do I think this will help give a good platform for any and all users to suggest their ideas and opinions, but it means myself and other Admins can monitor things and keep things in check.
For example, I thought it'd be cool to add a new theme for 2016 (or, at least part of it) just to get people's attention better, as humans get used to things very quickly I think. Any suggestions for theme ideas will be a great help.
Lexichu, DanPMK, the amount of work you've done recently is awesome, so just to keep an eye on things (this goes for everyone else also), I'd ask you to discuss any ideas you have in regards to updating templates, page formats and the like as I know you guys are generally extreme;y well-versed on the game mechanics and the like. Minor changes are fine, provided they're correct and properly sourced (where applicable, I really want this to BECOME the source for all correct info if that makes sense) but any major updates or changes you or anybody else thinks might be a good idea, you can use this discussion, the applicable pages Talk page (i.e, comments section) or when appropriate, me, Naali or other Admins can make a poll for any big changes.
I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays and I look forward to seeing where the future of our wiki goes.
Keep spinning,
CocoonMasterInity
Hey guys, I started adding the minions' Japanese names to the complete list by reading the Japanese strategy guide. I transcribed and transliterated them myself, so do be on the lookout for any typos or mistakes I may have made, though I did triple-check the list. It's also possible the guide might have mistakes (the English strategy guide has loads of typos in it) so I will also check them against the Japanese game at a future date, probably during an LP; the alternate Tweengo and Sherick forms were not in the strategy guide so I'll have to play and/or hack the game for those. Up to you guys whether they are also copy-pasted to the other lists.
I figured I'd start this topic to share a few observations in the Japanese names. All in all they were faithfully translated, though there are a few oddities:
The only one left for me to transcribe is the Chosen One's name, which I will do today. Ah, it's good to be back :)
Hi there, fist of all I'm Fightdemon from Spain, recently I've discovered this wikia and I love it. I'm glad to see Jade Cocoon fans still alive :D and I'm wondering if any of you guys have projects or intention to create any tribute game or sequel or something. In this case I'd love to participate, I'm concept artist illustrator and recently I've finished a 3D animation degree, and also I have few knowledgement about Unity 5 and audio engineering / vst's with Cubase.
Sorry for ma bad engrish bros, do not doubt to contact me if you like ;)

A winner is me. Though in all seriousness, I'm honestly surprised I got this far. What is considerably less surprising is~ that nothing happened. There may yet be more to the forest, but I know that getting to Corridor 100 without 171/171 yields nothing.
So I was playing Jade Cocoon today and opened the first chest in the Spider Forest of the Netherworld which contained 2 Great Walnuts. I had 19 Great Walnuts in my inventory before I opened it and after I opened it I still had 19. Could it be that because the item cap is at 20 the game just didn't give me the Great Walnuts?
I'm playing on the German PAL Version, can anyone confirm this for other versions as well?
Also, did someone find a 2nd Skeleton Key in the Spider Forest of the Nth.? I only found one where the Divine Tablet in the original forest was.
Hello,
I'm currently working on my 100% Jade Cocoon Save and I was trying to get the Blue/Red Bead from Srikarta and Patdreg in the Beetle Forest of the Netherworld. On the wiki the drop rate for these items is listed as common and the Great Walnut as rare. The thing is that it took forever for me to get these two items. As I was farming I counted in blocks of 10, I killed about 100 Srikartas and 60 Patdregs. It could just have been extremely bad luck but maybe these two items are rare drops instead of common drops? Just wanted to mention it here on the wiki. The Divine Garb for example took me like 30minutes to get. But in the end I'm not familiar with the drop rate and RNG of this game.
I'm playing on the German PAL Version by the way.
As titled, I got the PSN version of Tamamayu Monogatari since I found a good deal on PSN codes. I've gotten to the first forest thus far and felt I should list any changes from the 1.0 disc I have. To be honest with you, I'm not sure if these could have been done in later iterations of the game (PS1 The Best, or PS1 The Books versions), or if this acutally /is/ one of those versions, but I digress.
Analogue and Vibration support is in. There is a menu for Vibration in the options similar to in PAL versions.
The Genki intro video is not dated 1998. In fact, it no longer has a date.
There are now five options along with Text Speed, as opposed to four. Autoplay, Speech, Anim. Cut, Magic FX and Capture FX.
Loading and Saving now works like the international versions; a memory card is only checked once it is selected.
The town location pointer (not the selection menu) is now opaque, rather than translucent.
The Dream World motion blur is in this version.
Yume no Shimobe (lit. Dream of Bottom, possibly Dream's End, read: "Minion") uses the Agnia animation instead of Agni.
Defence is nerfed from ~80-85% down to the standard international amount. (~60%, if I recall right?)
Levant's weapon damage is increased to the standard international amounts.
Arpatron/Vatolka (good luck getting Vatolka) will not attack during the capture tutorial.
The game actually tells you how many spare cocoons you have left if you press the info button over Capture!
The Merging glitch is back. (see photo for Marrdreg having Wind Boss skin)Character portraits in menus (shops/merging) are boxed, rather than having them expanded along with the text box in 1.0.
You can access the minion/character menu after combat.
There is a minion list. (Yes, it's 171/171 still.)
The Hunter's Earring asks for confirmation on leaving the forest.
The AI is less brutal.
So far at least, it seems that this version's pretty much the PAL version... in Japanese. Except with the minions not switching in the forest; that is still the same.
I've been thinking that it really doesn't make a lot of sense to nine pages of what is basically three stages the same creature in all respects with only minor stat differences and different elements.
What I propose is have three Kalma pages: the first for the Larval Stage, the second for the Basic Stage, and the third for the Evolved Stage.
Each of these pages would cover all four Elements for that stage like how Vatolka is a single page covering all four elements.
What are everyone's thoughts on this?
Well, maybe the dub didn't do the best job of translating all the names. References like 'Elohim' and 'Gehenna' became 'Elrihm' and 'Gehena', but that kinda makes the game more unique, no? Still I wish I could know if there were any other mythological in-jokes that got lost in translation... (Pointless additional trivia: 'Amos' is a minor jewish prophet but he has nothing to do with greedy birdmen XD Probably a coincidence in that case!)
Anyway, what was I saying before I went off on that tangeant? XD Oh yeah! Its funny to see how the romanizations of the names changed during development. ^_^
In the prerelease demo of the north american version, Mahbu was spelled Mavoo and Elrihm was Erlim. These changes were even fully voiced with the different pronounciation!
And in the Katsuya Kondo Artworks you can see beta english names hidden in the background of the Jade Cocoon 2 character pages. (And only JC2!) Most of them had no name changes, but some of the others are quite funny!
Kahu = Cafu
Wu = Woo
Dr. Gil = Jill
Cocona = Coconut
Choco = Chocolate
Levant = Lebant
Yamu = Yumu
Odd, huh? Absolutely pointless, but interesting XD I can see why they might have decided 'Jill' sounds too feminine, since it doesn't seem to be his surname in japanese. But they coulda just made him Gillian or something. And I have no clue whatsoever why they shortened the names of half the Sweet Knights. Can't be because of character limits, since Cinnamon is longer than Coconut...
Hiya! I haven't been active on this wikia before but I'm a big fan of the series and I really appreciate this place, I only recently discovered it existed and I've already learned so many new things! Would you believe I legit never had a clue that monsters get older as they level up? I was a weird kid who fought everything except bosses with Levant, and just got better minions by catching everything and fusing them to get higher levels. What a shame, cos the growing-up feature is so cool! If only more monster games used something like that~
Anyway, enough introductions XD I just bought the 'Katsuya Kondo Artworks' from an import store. (£150, wow! o.O Totally worth every penny though~) It's a book of concept art from Jade Cocoon 1 and 2, as well as some interviews and a little mini manga. (Though you can find that translated already on the internet)
I'm currently scanning and touching up the hundreds of pages here, and I was thinking maybe the wiki could use some of this stuff? There's development sketches of beta versions of the characters, environment art, notes on how people's complex outfits were constructed, and beastiaries for both games. (Obviously JC2's is more complete while JC1 just has a few of the base types with no fusions or alternate element forms.)
I'm sorry to say that progress might be slow on the scanning though! I don't have very good hardware and I wanna touch up the pics so they look almost as good as they are on the page. Not to mention trying to translate stuff! So I just wanted to know if people were interested before I started such a huge project? And if anyone knows japanese then I'd love to get your help on this, I'm just gonna be trying to puzzle out the artist notes through my super newbie skills and a bunch of dictionaries XD I'll probably get a lot of stuff wrong!
Hello Cocoon Masters,
Chimera-gui suggested to merge with a Jade Cocoon 2 wiki, and I think it's a good thing. Read the whole discussion here.
Now I have one question to all of you. Should we change our URL to "jadecocoon"? And if yes/no, why/why not? Do you even agree that we should merge at all? I'm unsure which to choose, so I want you to tell me your opinions. This poll will not neccessarily determine my decision though:
Which URL? --Poll closed--
Keep "thejadecocoonproject" - 1 votes
Change to "jadecocoon" - 2 votes
My decision: Change to "jadecocoon"
I need a little help. I just noticed very strange things, thanks to the edit of an anonymous user.
(tl;dr.)
Vatolka seems to have different skill kits. What should I do?
(long story.)
DanPMK has used a trick to get behind names and stats of hidden minions. I used this to set up all minion pages. But now ... when I try Vatolka, I get different results. Xebra for example returns this (fire type):
Special:
Magic:
Strange thing now, on ePSXe it's like in the current Vatolka page. Except for the Agnis spell.
There are few pics and vids of it on the net too. Watch this for example (3:43 for skill kit):
The rest matches the Xebra result.
I also found these pics here. This one for example has Ad Mumuls? Absorb HP? +Power?
Earlier I also mentioned that the growth rates are different. On Xebra they're higher than on ePSXe.
What should I do? :(
I suspect it depends on the Pocketstation you used.
This' my first thought about an Elrihm page.
Is the intro video text appropriate as a start or at least correct? To me it seems as if the narrator uses archaic language (thee, thou), just like the bosses, which besides may reflect their age.
Is the Elrihm <-> Elohim relation trivia?
What else could we add?

i was wondering just how many people still play the original ps1 version of the game , not on pc emulators with cheats etc?
ive been playing it on and off since it came out when i was 9, had many different saves but my most recent one is rather impressive i think
corridor 98 (left with hunters earing as had been playing for 20 hours)
2 minions atlevell 36
8 minions at level 35
152 captured (missed out lots in the never forests)
just wonderd what else people have achieved without the cheats?
